Fried!

UPDATES:

It's 42 degrees out there. Once, we open the house door, the heat wave struck us like when you open the oven door. Ha..ha..ha I bet if you talk, fire will come out of your mouth. It's kinda suprising since inside our house, the degrees varies up to 10- 15 degrees lower. In fact, we wouldn't even know it's that hot had it not been for the trip to the taekwando classes in Bell Street. Thank God, we got this house. Anyway, we installed aircondition back to our car. So hopefully, the children will not be fried in the car for the rest of summer.

Once upon a time..."It's so cold out there! How long is winter going to last?" Simon, sarcastically would reply, "What cold?! This is nothing...Now you come to me complaining OOO it's so cold, in Summer you'll run to me, yelling OOO it's so hot out there!"

Well, that was then, 6 months ago. Simon was right though. The peak of summer days is very hot & dry. As much as you must 'Sarbolene' yourself during winter, well you have to do the same during summer. Worst, it has not been raining for more than 2 weeks, which is actually a normal situation in the middle of summer.

Lucky for us, our apartment's location & structure keeps the cool air in the house. So there's no need for a fan even. During the day, we shut down all the windows & blinds. At night, we just open the bedrooms windows, to get some of the night cool air in. The funny thing about houses in Melbourne, is there's no fan or airconditioner installed in most of them. Heater is an absolute necessity item, though. So while winter is bearable at least with the use of heaters and what not, but for most houses, summer can be prohibitively hot. Bush fire is a real threat to everyone.

So what does that tells us? Actually, there's just more cooler months compared to the hotter ones in Melbourne. So much so that the Ozzies cherished the sun even though the heat is unbearable. (Cherish here connotes the likes of those wearing skimpy clothes, sunbathing & etc) That's why they hold the title for the country with the highest number of skin cancer sufferer in the world. That's why they don't care to install fans or airconditioners in their house.

The later months of summer for me, is not a good time to go anywhere. Yes, the days are longer, but the heat just gets to you. I am waiting for March, when Autumm finally arrives, hopefully with more rain than last year. Pity all the trees and plants...Ya Allah.
