Closer to Home

There's just so many 'interesting' markets in Melbourne, selling goods from fresh produce to bric brac & preloved items, that sometimes you are lost for choice. But there's one so much closer to home (and 'sepelaung' from my office) that is just as interesting (or even more) if not as big as the Coburg Thrash & Treasure Market or the Camberwell Sunday Market - 'The Greensborough Community Market'.

The market, which has been operating in Greensborough for over thirty years (hence the name), had actually relocated to Car Park 2 of Kingsbury Drive @ LaTrobe University, starting from September 2008. Since September last year till April this year, I have been there for about 3-4 times. It opens every Sunday, except during some major public holidays, from 9am to 1pm.

When it first relocated in September last year, the number of stalls was rather very limited. Since last few months, I was rather suprise to see that the number of stalls have grown, that they now occupy three lanes of the car parks instead of two. The types of stalls varied, from selling brand new goods to preloved ones. And the best part, you can get the new goods for a good bargain here compared to the departmental store.

There's no charge for parking, unlike in Coburg T&T and the fact that it's a less than 5 minutes drive to the market from home, makes it a wonderful Sunday fling, once in awhile. Plus I don't have to 'dera' Uwais to sit in his car seat for more than 30 minutes! The area covering the market is also not too wide, so we don't have to worry tiring the children nor the parents...and their wallets..he..he..he.

Here's what's on today and what we ended up buying, that is before I have to scurry back to the office..;-)

A stall selling baby dolls' change of clothes - lots of them (Aisyah's fav)

There are only in Latrobe every other Sunday, though.

Aliyah got 2 new gowns for AUD10

We bought stronger & firmer home made pillows - 2 for AUD25

(wah rindunya bantal kekabu..hu..hu)

& a new carpet also for the same price

Don't forget to snack on the Turkish Mountain Bread

(Cheese & Spinach or Mince Meat & Spinach) - Sodap!

And the best part Uwais dpt 'Gong-Gong' (Horse) dia for AUD15.

See how much he's enjoying it...No sharing please..;-)
