Showing Around

One of U2 top songs, sings 'It's a beautiful day... Don't let it get away'. Well, it sure was today. After days of being bogged down by the cold weather, today is definitely a beautiful day to go out & about. The sun was shining well till sunset, but mind you it's still a bit cool.

And what better day to bring Abg Kamel & Kak Rodhiah around the city than today. They will be leaving Melbourne Monday morning. So off we go to the City at 10 am, us becoming the unofficial tourist guide cum tourist...he..he..he. Our main aim was the Victoria Market to get some souvenirs. The both of them enjoyed the market very much, but was rather worrying about their baggage excess. That's the 'penangan' of going to Auckland & Melbourne at the same time ;-)

Abg Kamel & Kak Yah ...lost for choice.

Later, we dropped by Es Teller (a Halal Indonesian restaurant) in front of QV at Swanston Street for lunch. The food...well ok, not bad. But nothing can compares to what we have back home, of course. (Ahhh..tetiba aku teringat kat Sata Ikan, bestnya, rindunya nak makan). The pricing was hmmm...mahei lah kut, yelah kalau satu pinggan kue teow pun 10 dollar. Tapi yg bagusnya, byk betul satu pinggan makanan. Memang terlebih kenyang lah. Next time kalau terdesak2 boleh order sepinggan jer, pastu giliyor-giliyor makan..hu..hu..hu.

Satu lagi makanan nya mmg dah pedas, taklah pedas giler, but shd be ok for Asian tongue. So please avoid from asking for a spicy version of any of the food. If you do, and you actually tak tahan pedas, jadilah cam Abg Kamel yg berpeluh2 (dlm kesejukkan) makan Kue Teow Kambing ;-) Tapi habis tu...maklumlah mahal, rugilah kalau tak habis...he..he..he.

Lepas makan, we crossed the street to go to QV to pray and dropping by a Pharmacy to get a cosmetic 'thingy' for a friend of Abg Kamel. After that, sempat lagi menyimpang ke LAGUNA (the Asian supermarket in QV) sat for some anchovies, kerepeks2, and some dodol! During the whole trip Kak Yah kept mentioning how different Melbourne is compared to Auckland. Dahlah org2 kita tak ramai di sana, makan susah, pilihan apatah lagi. So even if Melbourne is ranked as the 18th in the World's 20 Best Places to Live compared to Auckland at no 4, we nevertheless should feel very grateful indeed studying here. Yup, we are & all those gratefulness goes straight in kilogram towards the 'gracefulness' of my bum ;-). Anyway, we reached home by 3.30 pm. Tonight...Kak Yah must figure out how to fit all those souvenirs into her luggage. We wished them all the best...nothing left behind :-)
